Toronto, Canada (AHN) - Canada registered three more cases of Salmonella poisoning bringing to four the number of Canadians who tested positive from the same disease that sickened 950 people in the U.S. since April.
The Public Health Agency of Canada reported Monday two men from Alberta returning from Texas and an Ontario resident tested positive from Salmonella Saintpaul, the strain responsible for the outbreak in the U.S.
Last week, the first case was an Ontario resident, who frequently travels to the U.S. All four infected Canadians have recuperated or are recuperating, Dr. Andrea Ellis, a PHA epidemiologist told TheStar.com.
The PHA official said the four Canadians did not catch the infection locally indicating that if they had, more local cases would have been reported.
