Seoul, South Korea (AHN) - A South Korean envoy on Tuesday announced North Korea's nuclear talks will resume on Thursday in Beijing, China.
Speaking to reporters in Seoul, South Korea, Kim Sook said representatives from the U.S., China, Japan, Russia, South and North Korea will resume the discussion two weeks after Pyongyang handed its nuclear declaration to China.
Disclosure of the overdue document stalled negotiations for North Korea's denuclearization.
Pyongyang also demolished the cooling tower of its main nuclear facilities in Yongbyon. In return, the U.S. announced it is ending the sanctions it imposed against the isolated communist state. The fresh talks will focus on verifying the claims presented by North Korea in the documents.
Observers believe the dossier does not contain details of Pyongyang's uranium enrichment program stockpile of any weapons.
Before flying to Beijing, Kim said, "I will be in consultation with each country to secure an important bridgehead for achieving the goal that North Korea should eventually give up its nuclear weapons programs."
