Washington, D.C. (AHN) - The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) said Wednesday that 12 American tourists missing in earthquake-hit central China since Monday have been contacted at a panda preserve and the survivors said they are safe.
According to the WWF website, the organization's office in China contacted via satellite phone officials of the panda breeding facility at the Wolong Nature Reserve, which the Americans were visiting when the earthquake struck. Officials of the nature reserve in Sichuan province told WWF that the tourists, whose names were not revealed, were safe.
The WWF is now arranging the return of the tourists to the U.S. with a travel agent in China.
Meanwhile, WWF said two of the preserve's local volunteers remain missing.
